Helpful tips for using the nurseryauction.com auction site.

  1. To make sure you see the most up-to the moment information during the auction process, hit the "Refresh " key often on you browser.
  2. If at any time you have questions during the bidding process call 724-988-9118 or 724-646-2444
  3. Print out the "Printable catalog " to use as a reference tool during bidding or browsing.
  4. Call and talk to the nursery personnel to get to know the removal/loading situation as good as possible.
  5. If at any time you feel lost within the on-line bidding arena, use the pull down menu at the top of the frame and go to "all items "
  6. Once you have registered for one auction you are able to bid on all upcoming auctions also .
  7. Staggered ending times. (This example auction has the first lot ending at 11:00am). Not all auctions are the same.
The first item will close at 11:00am. Each item will close one minute after the previous. For example: Lot 1 closes at 11:01 pm. Lot 2 closes at 11:02 pm. Lot 3 closes at 11:03 pm. This will continue until all items have closed. Also note that extended bidding is still in place. Therefore, if Lot 1 goes into extended bidding Lot 2 will still close at 11:01 pm and Lot 3 will still close at 11:02 PM, etc. (unless they also go into extended bidding) while Lot 1 is still in extended bidding. This scenario applies to all lots. If you have any questions regarding extended bidding, please contact us.
  8. This is pretty cool! As the auction is ending you can see if you are the high bidder on some of the lots in the foreword parts of the auction and at the same time bid accordingly on upcoming lots in order to fill a truck or order. Just like at a traditional auction.
  9. What is a Maximum Bid?
A Maximum Bid is the highest dollar amount you are willing to pay for an item. Here is an example of using the Maximum bid feature: If you enter a Maximum bid the system will automatically bid on your behalf up to your Maximum bid amount. For example let's assume that you enter a bid of $10 on an item and Maximum bid of $40. If no other bids are placed on that item you will be the winner at your $10 bid. If another bidder places a bid of $20 on the item you will now be winning at the $20 plus 1 increment level (for example: $20 + $1 = $21).
  10. If you are outbid while the auction is still active...
The system will automatically send you an email every time that you are outbid on an item.
  11. May I raise my Maximum Bid?
Yes, but if you are the current high bidder, you will have to raise your bid by one bid increment.
YOU WILL NOT BE INVOICED FOR THE ITEMS YOU HAVE PURCHASED UNTIL THE ENTIRE AUCTION IS OVER.
  12. What is Auto-extend time?
The Auto-extend time feature will leave the bidding open for any item that has received a bid within the last 5 minutes, even if the original ending time has been reached.
  13. How do I receive a catalog "Hard Copy"
The catalog can be printed by going to the next auction web page when you enter the on-line arena. The link to click on says "Printable Catalog" . We can also fax you one by calling 1-800-646-6486
  14. Can I enter the auction site and look around without a bidders number and password? Yes just click the enter the auction arena link and then click on the link that says "All Items".
  15. Waiting till the last minute to bid:
There is no real benefit to waiting to the last minute to place a quick bid and be the last bidder. This bidding engine has an Auto-extend feature we have developed in order to extend the bidding another few minutes automatically should someone bid right at the end. this will always give the last bidder another chance.
  16. In my opinion the best way to bid:
Use the Maxbid feature as early as possible. This guarantees that you will have the final position you need at the end. If you wait and other people are bidding there is a good chance someone is thinking in the same range as you.
EXAMPLE using a lot with 1 Gal Plants: If you know you would pay 1.10 for a certain 1 gallon , make your bid at .50 but place a Maxbid at 1.10. if no one else bids you still get it at .50. but if ten people start to bid at a certain time no one can take that 1.10 position you would be happy with. If one other person bids .60 ,your next bid is automatically placed at .70 (1 increment higher) but never higher than you Maxbid.
NOTE: you can raise your Maxbid at any time.
  17. How do I arrange removal and payment after the auction?
After the auction is over all successfully buyers will be contacted via E-Mail or phone. Payment arrangements will be made. Checks will be over nighted.or wired to the designated destination. Once payment is received and verified you will be faxed a paid receipt and pickup times will be arranged. Wire Transfers welcomed.
  18. You are bidding based on your own judgement of quality and will be signing a statement that you have properly inspected all material and are fully aware that you are buying all auction lots As-Is Where-Is. Call 1-800-646-6486 for nursery contact information.
